Answers about buying art on The Walls, joining as an artist, and what we are building.
Buying art
What can I buy on The Walls?
Prints of works by the artists we represent, in three kinds: open editions (printed to order with no limit), limited editions (a fixed number, numbered in the order they sell) and one of ones (a single print, ever).
Some artists also sell their original physical works through us. You ask the artist for a shipping quote to your address, and buy at that price or not.
How are the prints made?
Each print is made to order with archival pigment inks, on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 100% cotton fine art paper, or on canvas stretched over 38mm bars. Frames come in matte black, gallery white, natural oak or walnut, with an optional white mat, and arrive ready to hang.
We spent a year testing print partners and materials around the world to choose these.
Is my print authentic?
Every work is licensed to The Walls by its artist, so each print is made with their permission. Limited editions and one of ones come with a numbered certificate of authenticity, and anyone can check its public record at thewalls.art/verify.
What does Certified mean?
A Certified work is licensed to The Walls by the artist who made it: they signed an agreement with us for it, so every print is made with their permission. A Certified original is sold for the artist under a signed agreement too.
Certified limited editions and one of ones are numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity. Originals come with a certificate the artist signs. Each certificate has a QR code that opens its public record at thewalls.art/verify, so anyone can check it, now or when the work changes hands.
How do I pay?
In crypto, straight from your wallet to ours: ETH, SOL, XTZ or USDC on the networks we support. There is no payment processor in the middle and we never hold your keys. Card payments are planned.
How long does delivery take, and where do you ship?
Unframed prints usually ship in 3 to 5 business days, framed and canvas in 5 to 7, printed close to you where possible. Shipping is charged at cost and shown at checkout. Originals ship from the artist's studio, insured and tracked, at the price the artist quotes you before you buy.
Import duties or taxes in your country, if any, are paid on delivery.
What if my print arrives damaged?
Send us a photo within 14 days and we will reprint it free. Because each piece is made for you, we cannot take returns for a change of mind.
Can I see how a work will look in my home?
Yes. Every print can be seen in a room at its true size, on a photo of your own wall (your photo never leaves your device), or in augmented reality on your phone.
For artists
How do I join?
Apply at thewalls.art/artists/apply. You sign in with SolPersona (free to register), tell us about your work and show us one to three pieces you would like to sell as prints. We read every application ourselves and reply either way.
How does pricing work, and how do I get paid?
You set your own price for each print size, and you receive exactly that price for every print sold. The buyer pays the cost of printing and framing, your price, and a platform fee on top. You are paid within 30 days after the end of the month the order is delivered, with a statement of what sold.
Do I keep the rights to my work?
Yes. You keep all copyright. You license The Walls, as your agent, to sell prints of the works you choose, under an agreement you read and sign before anything goes on sale. Your originals, NFTs, commissions and exhibitions stay yours to sell anywhere.
What is a Resident Artist?
Resident Artists list on both The Walls and Open Walls, and can sell their originals here when we invite them. They lead the home page, come first in new-work emails to collectors, pay a lower platform fee, and get the marketing kit for every work: ready-made posts, stories, print pieces and videos. The one condition: a work they list on The Walls is sold as prints only on The Walls. Everything else stays theirs to sell anywhere. Artists can ask to become a Resident once they have five approved works.
Do I need a crypto wallet?
No. You can sign your agreements with a wallet, or with your typed name, your signature and a one-time code we email you.
Do you accept AI art?
AI art is welcome. We ask every artist how they use AI and are open about it with collectors, so buyers always know how a work was made.
How do you make sure work is original?
Before a work becomes Certified, a person reviews it and checks it with reverse image search, and the artist signs an agreement saying the work is theirs. So a Certified work is original and belongs to the artist who sells it.
