Where She Still Exists

Where She Still Exists began with a watercolour painted by my mother, depicting a traditional gabare on the Dordogne, a river deeply woven into our family history. After her passing, I returned to her painting and transformed it into an imagined world. The familiar landscape became inhabited by mysterious figures and a small blue creature whose presence remains deliberately unexplained. The Dordogne would later become part of our final goodbye, giving the original painting a meaning neither of us could have anticipated. Through this work, I wanted to enter the world she had created rather than simply preserve it. Two moments of creation, hers and mine, separated by time, now coexist within the same image.
